Chris Gayle did not have the best of starts to the tenth season of the Indian Premier League with scores oblivious to his past scores. The lanky Jamaican was back to what he is best at – scoring runs at a monstrous run-rate. The opening batsman was at his brutal best as he smashed the hopeless Gujarat Lions bowling to all sections of the ground in their crucial encounter at Rajkot.

The Jamaican took a special liking to the No.1 Test bowler Ravindra Jadeja and smoked him to all parts of the field scoring 21 runs in the over. The lanky opener brought up his half-century off just 23 balls, thanks to the over from the left-arm spinner Jadeja.

The opener then brought out a special celebration for the comeback half-century, a celebration which is pretty common throughout the world. Yes, if you haven’t witnessed the celebration, it was the “Salt-bae” phenomenon which broke through the world.

What is “Salt-Bae celebration”?

The Turkish Chef made it the headlines of the social networking sites when a video of him surfaced on the Internet. The video saw the chef sprinkling salt over the freshly cut meat, before which he tapped on the meat. The new hot-property has already taken the world by storm before reaching the shore of India through Chris Gayle.

Earlier, the salt-bae celebration was extensively used in the major European Football leagues, where the players used it to celebrate their goals. The NFL Pro Bowl was not very far behind as the players came up with their ‘salt bae’ versions.

Gayle’s form:

Gayle or as confessed by him “The Universal Boss” did not get amongst the leading run-scorers in the tournament. However, owing to the injury of AB de Villiers, the Jamaican got another chance to prove his mettle and he did not disappoint the management.

While there was a loss in the form of AB de Villiers, the RCB would be boosted by the return of Gayle’s form. He also became the first batsman to score 10,000 runs in T20 cricket during his innings. A blazing Yorker was required from the young bowler Basil Thampi from Kerala to dismiss the batsman for a well-made 77 runs from 38 balls.
