West Indies continued their dominance over Pakistan in international cricket after taking a 2-0 lead in the three-match with a victory on Friday, June 2. At the Coolidge Cricket Ground, Antigua, the Stafanie Taylor unit defeat the visitors by seven runs- DLS Method after putting 125 on the board.

Batting first, the hosts crossed the 120-run mark courtesy of Kycia Knight’s cameo of 30 off 20 at a strike rate of 150. The Pakistan bowlers, especially Fatima Sana and Nida Dar, were hard to get away.

While defending the modest score, the Caribbean bowlers didn’t let their guard down at any stage. The home team won the game after rain interrupted play with Pakistan needing 23 to win off 12 with four wickets in hand.

The third and final match is set to be played on Sunday, April 4 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua, and the hosts will be looking to fetch a clean sweep.

West Indies are likely to make two forced changes. In Friday’s match, Chedean Nation and Chinelle Henry collapsed on the pitch after which they were taken to the hospital.

Though they have been reported as being safe, the team management might want to give them adequate rest before the ODIs. If they don’t play, Karishma Ramcharak and Britney Cooper are the probable replacements.

The skipper Stafanie Taylor hasn’t had the best of series and she’ll be looking to add some runs and wickets to her tally. Anisa Mohammed, the all-time leading T20I wicket, is yet to make a breakthrough in the series.

Like her opposite number, Javeria Khan has faltered as well, having scored only seven runs in the series. Her opening partner Javeria Rauf has looked lacklustre as well.

Sidra Nawaz, who replaced Muneeba Ali in the eleven, looked decent for her 25-ball 17 before she, unfortunately, got run out. Nida Dar has arguably been Pakistan’s standout performer in the series.

She has picked up three wickets from eight overs at an excellent economy rate of 3.87. With the bat, she scored 29 in the previous game. Fatima Sana has picked four wickets and she has been effective with the bat as well.
