The Bangladesh team would be a very happy unit after winning the ODI series against West Indies. The team underwent some disappointing loses in the recent times leaving the audience perplexed. But, they showed a positive intent in this series and went hard after West Indies.
The team won the 1st ODI by a big margin of 48 runs. However, they faced a set back in the 2nd ODI as they lost the game from the verges of winning it. Hence, it was all down to the series decider and Bangladesh didn’t disappoint. They won the decider by 18 runs to take home the trophy. Tamim Iqbal who scored a century in this game was the ‘Man of the Match’. Furthermore, he was also the ‘Man of Series’ as he scored 287 runs in 3 games at a staggering average of 143.50.
Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first at St Kitts. Tamim Iqbal set the perfect platform up front with a brilliant 103 which came off 124 balls. With Mahmudullah and Mashrafe Mortaza firing guns down the order, Bangladesh put up a massive total of 301 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 50 overs. While Mahmudullah scored 67 runs off 49 balls, Mortaza scored 36 off 25 balls. Jason Holder and Ashely Nurse picked two wickets each in the innings.
In the chase, Chris Gayle came to his own terms and was tonking the bowlers all around the ground. He could have been dangerous to deal with but was dismissed by Rubel Hossain on 73 just as he was looking to shift gears. Although Shai Hope scored 64 runs, these came off 94 deliveries which didn’t help the teams’ cause. Rovman Powell kept the hosts interested with some clean hitting but it was a bit too much of an asking for him with literally no support from the other end. He was unbeaten on 74 off 41 balls. Mortaza picked two wickets in the innings.
Twitter overjoyed with Bangladesh’s win
With the Bangladesh team undergoing a lean phase, the fans were very disappointed to see their team even lose to minnows. However, this series win has got a smile back on the faces of the Bangladeshi fans. They were thrilled with this series victory and were all praises for the team. This was also Bangladesh’s first ever series win outside Bangladesh since 2009. Here is a look at how they reacted:

So first ODI series win away from home for Bangladesh since 2009. Great turnaround for them after a disappointing Test series. Hoping the same from South Africa… #WIvBAN #SLvRSA

What an innings!
A ninth ODI hundred for Bangladesh legend Tamim Iqbal, and a second in the series. Will it be a match-winning and series-sealing effort?
