Delhi youngster Rishabh Pant has made giant strides in the world of cricket in the recent times. Pant first came to the limelight during the ICC U19 World Cup last year. He hit a record fastest fifty then. Soon, he found himself plundering runs for his Ranji side Delhi this season. With over 1000 runs in the edition and a top score of 308, he was absolutely unstoppable this season. No wonder why he was rightly rewarded with the national call for the T20 series against England later this month.

As per the quotes in wahcricket, Pant spoke at length about his future plans in Mumbai recently. He is plying his trade for Reliance 1 in the Dr. DY Patil T20 Cup at the moment. He expressed his happiness on being selected in the team. He also quoted that working on his fitness with his trainer has helped him a great deal. “(I am) pretty happy with my selection right now. I don’t think too much, I am enjoying my selection.

“(I work) on my fitness, wicket (keeping) and batting, that is what is helping (me) out. Before the season I had a good off season with my trainer and that’s what (is) helping me,” he said.

Speaking further, he cited how he has always revered MS Dhoni. He remarked that he could not have many interactions with MSD in the past but now being in the same dressing room will help him pick the tricks of the trade.

“I am trying to learn from Dhoni bhai (MS Dhoni) since a long time, but time never came, because he was different (in different teams). Now since the opportunity has come, I will get to learn a lot of wicket-keeping (from him) and he will make the mindset good,” he further added.

Pant was in full praise for former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid. He mentioned that Dravid helped him instill discipline in his game play. Adding further, he said he wishes to play Test cricket and that remains to be the ultimate goal.

“With Rahul (Dravid) sir, you learn discipline, how to carry oneself, all these things are to learn. In the middle of the season, he won’t trouble a player especially in the off-season when I will get time. I will definitely speak to Rahul Sir. I like all the formats. If anyone gets picked for India, he will be obviously happy. All the coaches wish that I definitely play Test cricket and I also wish that I will play Test cricket,” said the Delhi batsman.
