Windies completed a 2-0 win in the 2-match Test series against Bangladesh at home as they defeated them by 166 runs in the Jamaica Test. After an embarrassing innings defeat, Bangladesh did well with the ball in the 2nd innings of the 2nd Test but their efforts weren’t enough after they conceded 205-run first innings lead. Shakib Al Hasan led them from the front with a 6-wicket haul to reduce the hosts to 129 in the 2nd innings but Jason Holder’s 6-fer restricted the visitors to just 168.

All the major stats and numbers that were recorded during Windies’ big win:

1 – Shakib Al Hasan and Jason Holder took 6/33 and 6/59 respectively in the second innings for Bangladesh and Windies. Thus, this match became the first in Test history to witness 6-wicket hauls by both captains in the same game. Pakistan skipper Fazal Mahmood and Australian captain Richie Benaud took 5-fers in the 1959 Karachi Test which is the other instance of both captains taking a 5-fer in the same Test.

1 – Windies’ series win is their first in the six Test series at home they played since the start of 2015. Their last Test series win at home was also against Bangladesh in September 2014 that they won 2-0.

4 – Shakib Al Hasan is only the 4th captain to score a fifty and take a 5-wicket haul in the same game and still end up on the losing side. Jason Holder faced the fate in the final Test against Sri Lanka last month. Australia’s Monty Noble had this double in losing cause against England in the 1904 Sydney Test while Imran Khan’s efforts went in vain during the 1982 Leeds and Birmingham Test matches against England.

9 – Shakib now has scored fifty-plus runs in an innings and taken a 5-wicket haul in the same Test match on nine different instances. Only Ian Botham (11) has done this double on more occasions than the Bangladesh all-rounder.

11/103 – Jason Holder is only the 2nd Windies captain to take 10 wickets in a Test match after Courtney Walsh who took 13/55 in the 1995 Wellington Test.

16 – Mominul Haque’s 16 runs in this Test series are the fewest for any Bangladesh player who batted four innings in a Test series among the top six. His 16 runs are also the fewest for a top three batsman in a Test series since the score of 10 by Zimbabwe’s Dion Ebrahim in the 2005 Test series against New Zealand.

1956 – Shakib is the first spin bowling captain in nearly 62 years to open the bowling in the first innings of a Test match. He bowled the 2nd over of the Test after Abu Jayed bowled the first over. India’s Polly Umrigar was the last man before him as the off-spinner bowled the 2nd over of the 1956 Kolkata Test against Australia.

2013 – Nurul Hasan is the first wicketkeeper to bag a pair in Test cricket since Matt Prior in the 2013 Lord’s Test against New Zealand. Bangladesh’s Abu Jayed also bagged a pair in this Test match. Only four players registered pairs for Bangladesh in Test cricket in the last 10 years before this Test.
