Bangladesh completed a series win over the Windies after snatching the final ODI at Warner Park by 18 runs while defending a total of 301. Tamim Iqbal’s yet another ODI century helped the visitors post their highest ODI total against Windies of 301/6 as Mahmudullah scored an unbeaten 67 towards the end. Chris Gayle powered the chase with a 66-ball 73 before the hosts slowed down in the middle overs. Rovman Powell’s valiant effort of an unbeaten 41-ball 74 wasn’t enough to take his team past the target.

1Bangladesh’s series win is their first ODI bilateral series win outside Asia since they defeated Zimbabwe in August 2009. Bangladesh defeated Windies in Caribbean in 2009 just before touring Zimbabwe.


3 – This series is only the 3rd ODI series/tournament for Bangladesh where they played all the matches with only 11 players. (series of 3+ matches) They were unchanged during the 3-match ODI series against Ireland in 2008 and in the 3-match ODI series in Sri Lanka, 2017.


5.45 – The average run-rate of 5.45 in this series is the 4th highest in an ODI series/tournament in the West Indies. The highest is 5.94 during the 4-match ODI series between Windies and India in 2009. The 3-match ODI series in 2017 between Pakistan and Windies had a RR of 5.49 while the rain-affected 7-match series between England and the hosts in 2004 had a run-rate of 5.48.


60 – Windies innings is only the 6th and first such instance for them in ODI cricket where three batsmen scored 60 and more runs during an unsuccessful run-chase. Rovman Powell and Chris Gayle scored 74* and 73 respectively while Shai Hope got 64.

South Africa against Pakistan in the 2003 Lahore ODI and against India in the 2013 CT match, Sri Lanka against India in the 2009 Rajkot ODI, Bangladesh against Australia in the 2011 Dhaka ODI and New Zealand against India in the 2017 Kanpur ODI had three batsmen scoring 60+ during an unsuccessful chase.


287 – Tamim Iqbal’s 287 runs in this ODI series are the 3rd most for a Bangladesh player in a bilateral ODI series. The top two are also on the name Tamim as he scored 312 runs against Pakistan at home in 2015 and exactly 300 runs in the 2009 ODI series in Zimbabwe.


287 – With the 287 runs in this series, Tamim became only the 2nd player to score over 275 runs in a 3-match ODI series on two different occasions. He scored 312 runs in the 3-match ODI series against Pakistan in 2015.

Quinton de Kock scored 342 runs in the 2013 home ODI against India where he scored hat-trick hundreds and 287 runs during the ODI series against Bangladesh at home last year.


301/6 – Bangladesh’s total of 301/6 is their highest in ODI cricket against the Windies surpassing the total of 292/6 in the 2012 Khulna ODI.


385 – Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan shared 385 runs during this series which is the most by any pair in a 3-match bilateral ODI series. They surpassed Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock’s 372 runs that they got in two games during the 2017 home ODI series against Bangladesh.


385 – The 385 runs between Tamim and Shakib in this series are the most by a Bangladesh pair in an ODI series/tournament. They went past the 369 runs between Mehrab Hossain jnr and Shahriar Nafees in the 2006 home ODI series against Zimbabwe.
