Things in the 2nd Test between Windies and Bangladesh just went as it was expected. The visitors bowed down to the hosts and failed to put up a fight. Bangladesh was clean swept in the series as they lost both the Tests they played.

Although the Bangladesh bowlers trounced in this game, the batsmen were nowhere up to the mark which is utterly disappointing. Windies skipper Jason Holder picked 11 wickets in this game and 16 wickets in the series. Furthermore, he also scored 67 runs with the bat in three innings in the series. Hence, he was adjudged the ‘Man of the Match’ as well as the ‘Man of the Series’.

Bangladesh bowlers retaliate in the second innings

After being bowled out for a string of low scores earlier, the Bangladesh bowlers gave it back to West Indies in the second innings of the game. West Indies continued to bat with an overnight score of 19/1 with Devon Smith and Keemo Paul batting in the middle. But then, Shakib Al Hasan caused havoc by picking up 5 wickets on the total. In total, he picked 6 wickets in the innings as he picked one wicket on the second day. Also, Mehidy Hasan joined him and picked two wickets in the innings.

Devon Smith was dismissed for just 16 runs early on in the day. Soon, Shakib also dismissed Kieran Powell for 18 runs. This was a huge wicket given that Powell is in great form. Abu Jayed dismissed Hetmyer for 18 runs. Roston Chase with 32 runs was the highest scorer in the innings as West Indies were bowled out for just 129 runs. They set Bangladesh a target of 335 runs to chase.

A batting collapse yet again

The special performances from the bowlers couldn’t inspire the Bangladesh batsmen. However, they managed to score their highest innings total in this series. It was Jason Holder yet again who raised up to the occasion. He picked 6 wickets in the innings while Roston Chase picked 2 wickets. Shakib Al Hasan, with 54 runs was the highest scorer in the innings. With the help of a 33 from Liton Das and 31 from Mushfiqur Rahim, they managed to cross 150 runs. But, they only managed to put 168 runs on the board as they fell short of the target by 166 runs.
