He hasn’t played a lot of cricket in the last couple of years but Andre Russell is still regarded as one among the best allrounders in the business. The big Jamaican has the ability to create a game-changing impact in a matter of overs while bowling or batting especially in T20 cricket. Of late the 30-year-old has also struggled with quite a few injuries along with other concerns.

Russell was back in the Windies squad for the ODI series against visiting Bangladesh and he seems to have hurt his knee once again. He missed out on the second ODI against the visitors and put up an Instagram post to give his fans an update on the injury. In the video a doctor first diagnoses his knee using what looks like a sonography equipment.

He then picks the right point around the knee joint and gives Russell a shot which will help in healing the injury sooner. The cricketer with his post wrote that he will be ‘back on the park in a few’ and used hashtags bestrong and nevergive up. However, officially there is no confirmation with regards to his injury and recovery time.

Here is his post:

Will be back on the park in a few guys! #bestrong #nevergiveup

Despite being on top of his game Russell had to sit out for a year in 2016-17 as he failed a dope test conducted by a local body. As he failed to report thrice it was considered a doping offence and as per the WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) banned for a year form participating in any level of competitive cricket.

He made a comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 season for the Kolkata Knight Riders who retained him in the auction. The allrounder played all the 16 matches for the team – scored 316 runs and picked up 13 wickets which is an enormous effort. He was also the Man of the Match in the Eliminator where KKR beat Rajasthan.

Russell and Windies both will be eager for his return as he certainly is in the scheme of things for the World Cup 2019.
