The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the T20I squad for the three-match series against Windies commencing on July 31 at St. Kitts. A huge boost for the Tigers’ skipper Shakib Al Hasan is the return of their mystery fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman, who earned the sobriquet “Fizz” after his exploits in the IPL 2016.

He was sidelined due to an injury he picked up during the 2018 edition of the T20 tournament. He was representing the Mumbai Indians where he sustained a hairline fracture on his toe. Due to that, he missed the game against Afghanistan at Dehradun and subsequently was left out for the Test series against Windies.

Mustafizur’s trickery will add more firepower to their arsenal, which clearly lacked the precision required previously. He was exceptional in the Nidahas Trophy, where Bangladesh lost the final in the most heartbreaking way possible. His absence clearly was felt in the ODI series against Windies and now, the Tigers would be more optimistic about their chances.

USA to host the second and third T20Is

After completing the first T20I at St. Kitts, the action will shift to the United States of America. Lauderhill will be hosting the second and third T20Is on 4th and 5th of August. The venue has also hosted a T20I between India and Windies previously.

Apart from the inclusion of Mustafizur, the selectors have not made any changes to the squad that played against Afghanistan. This will be a huge test for the Sabbir Rahman, Mosaddek Hossain and Rubel Hossain, who haven’t been up to the mark in recent times.

The team, as always, will be heavily dependent on its top order stalwarts to go all the way. Apart from Mustafizur, the bowling attack also boasts of the likes of Abu Jayed, Rubel and Abu Hider who have to step up to the task in crunch times during the series.

Bangladesh Squad: Shakib Al Hasan (c), Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Liton Das, Mushfiqur Rahim, Sabbir Rahman, Mahmudullah, Mosaddek Hossain, Mehidy Hassan, Nazmul Islam, Rubel Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Abu Hider, Abu Jayed, Ariful Haque
