Windies vs England 2019, Test series – Approaching milestones

England had a memorable second half of 2018 where they registered big Test wins against India at home and Sri Lanka away. The first half didn’t go as expected as they were forced to draw the home Test series against Pakistan and lost an ODI to Scotland as well. Their 2019 kick starts in the Caribbean with a 3-match Test series against the Windies. The Jason Holder-led team had a poor overall 2018 where they lost almost everything except Test series at home and the T20I series to end in Bangladesh.

All the approaching milestones for the players ahead of the Windies-England Test series:

46 – Ben Stokes has hit as many as 46 sixes in Test cricket. He needs four more hits out of the ground to become the 4th player for England to hit 50 sixes in Test cricket. The first match of this series in Barbados would be the 50th Test match appearance for the all-rounder.


86 – Jason Holder is 14 wickets away from completing 100 Test scalps. He has bagged these many wickets in 35 matches with help of five five-fers. Holder picked up 33 wickets in six matches he played in 2018.

The Windies skipper will only be the 4th Caribbean player with 1500+ runs and 100+ wickets in Test cricket when he gets to this milestone.


290 – Kemar Roach needs ten more wickets to complete 300 wickets in International cricket. The Windies pacer has claimed 166 wickets in Test cricket, 114 in ODIs and 10 from T20Is.


2966 – Ben Stokes needs 34 more runs to complete 3000 runs in Test cricket. The all-rounder also has 117 wickets to his name in this format. Stokes will become only the 18th player and the 5th from England with 3000+ runs and 100+ wickets in Test cricket when he scored 34 more runs.


4860 – Windier captain Jason Holder need 140 more runs for completing 5000 runs across all formats in professional cricket. He aggregated 2193 runs, 2029 runs and 638 runs respectively in FC, List A and T20s.


4910 – Runs Stuart Broad has scored in his 200-match first-class career. He needs 90 more runs to complete the 5k-run milestone in FC cricket.


5980 – Jos Buttler needs 20 more runs for completing 6000 runs in International cricket. The England player scored 1544 runs in Test cricket, 3176 runs in ODI format and 1260 runs in T20Is.


16830 – Jonny Bairstow is 170 runs away from completing 17000 runs in his professional career. Bairstow scored 11242 of those 16830 runs in first-class cricket. In List A and T20s, Bairstow aggregated 3939 and 1649 runs respectively.
