Women’s T20 Challenge 2019: Match 2, Supernovas vs Velocity – Statistical Highlights

Here are the major stats recorded during the final league match between Velocity and Supernovas.

Supernovas clinched a 12-run victory over Velocity in the final league game to make it to the final due to a better NRR than the Trailblazers. Jemimah Rodrigues scored an unbeaten 48-ball 77 laced with 11 boundaries. Remaining batters struggled to get going as the Supernovas finished with only 142/3 in their 20 overs. Danielle Wyatt’s (43) counter-attack in the first 10 overs put Velocity on top in the chase.

Wyatt was dismissed in the 12th over when Velocity needed 66 more at less than 8 runs an over. However, skipper Mithali Raj’s 40 not out and Veda Krishnamurthy’s unbeaten 30 gave preference crossing 117 which was needed for making it to the final. They didn’t put much efforts to win as they ended up with 130/3 in their 20 overs and fell 13 runs short of the target.

Jemimah’s career best

77* – Jemimah Rodrigues’ unbeaten 77-run knock is her highest individual score in Twenty20 cricket. Her previous highest T20 score was 72 during the Auckland T20I earlier this year against the White Ferns. Unfortunately, India Women lost that game on the final ball while defending the total.

Rodrigues’ innings came in that Auckland T20I which came to an end when she was out stumped in the bowling of Amelia Kerr during the 19th over. On Thursday in Jaipur, Kerr nearly dismissed Jemimah once again when the 18-year-old was batting on 52.


Wyatt’s favourite country

449 – Runs Danielle Wyatt has scored in the Twenty20 format since the start of 2018 on the Indian soil. She scored those 449 across 11 innings at an average of 44.9 and by striking at 142.1. Wyatt has six scores of 30 and more in these 11 innings including her career best of 124.

58.33 – Wyatt has even more impressive numbers in India while chasing since 2018. The England batswoman scored 353 runs in seven chases at an average of 58.33. Wyatt has an SR of 151.71 in these seven innings that included five scores of 30+.


Veda ends her misery with the bat

30* – The unbeaten 30 by Veda Krishnamurthy is her first 30+ score in the last 19 Twenty20 innings. Since here 37* against South Africa Women at the start of 2018, Veda scored only 181 runs in the next 18 innings at an average of 15.08.


A game built on partnerships

4 – As many as four fifty-run partnerships were scored by both sides in this match. The Supernovas had stands of 55 and 50 for the 2nd and 3rd wickets respectively. During the chase, Velocity added 56 for the 3rd and 53 for the 4th wicket.
