Two of the senior cricketers from the Bangladesh national women’s team Salma Khatun and Sharmin Akhter Supta are set to fly to India for participating in the Women’s T20 Challenge 2022. Apart from these two Bangladeshi players, several other international stars such as Laura Wolvaardt, Sophie Ecclestone and Deandra Dottin will be among the many prominent players.

The tournament is slated to start on May 23 and the final match will be played on May 28. A total of three teams will be participating in the event including Trailblazers, Supernovas, and Velocity and all the matches will be held at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune. The tournament was not conducted last year due to India’s tour of Australia.

In 2020, the tournament was conducted in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) just like the IPL. It must be noted that Bangladesh senior player Salma Khatun played for the Trailblazers in that event.

Pray for me so that I do well: Salma Khatun

“We got the visa today and will fly to India tomorrow. I will play for the same team and along with me, Supta will play for Trailblazers for the first time,” Salma told The Daily Star today. Salma had an excellent outing during the 2020 tournament as her performance helped her side Trailblazers to lift the prized cup for the very first time. “Pray for me so that I can continue my good performance in the tournament. I will give my best,” Salma added.

As mentioned above, including the two Bangladeshi players, as many as 12 international players from South Africa, England, West Indies, and Australia will compete in the Women’s T20 Challenge 2022. The fans will also get the chance to see their favourite Indian players including left-handed batter Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Shafali Verma.
