England managed to stop Australia Women’s winning run in India as they thumped down the Aussies to start the Tri-nation T20I series with a big win. The England bowlers pulled down the Australians who were set towards posting a 160+ score. Wickets at regular intervals restricted the Aussies to 149/8 despite a 65 from their skipper Rachael Haynes. Unbeaten fifties from Natalie Sciver (68*) and Tammy Beaumont (58*) took England home in only 17 overs after they lost their openers cheaply.
All the stats and numbers that were recorded during the game between Australia and England:
3 – Number of fifty-plus scores in the game by the players batting at No.3 and lower in the game. This is only the 2nd T20I game in Women’s cricket where three non-openers scored the fifties. The Windies-Sri Lanka T20I game in Coolidge last year was the first such game.
4 – England became the first team to win four T20I games in Women’s cricket while chasing 150 and more. All their successful chases of 150+ have come against Australia. The Aussies failed to defend 150+ on five occasions in Women’s T20I cricket with all other remaining teams failing to 150+ in five instances.
13 – England’s Bryony Smith became the 13th player and the 3rd from England to be dismissed via stumping on debut in Women’s T20I cricket. She is the only player to open the innings among the 13 players.
17 – Overs England needed to chase down the target of 150. This is earliest any team chased down a 140+ target in Women’s cricket. Australia chased down 152 against England in the 2005 Taunton T20I in only 17.3 overs.
34 – The 6th wicket stand of 34 runs is Australia’s highest partnership in this game. This is the lowest ‘highest partnership’ in a 140+ total in Women’s T20I cricket. Australia had the highest stand of 29 runs when they posted 153 also against England in the 2011 Canberra T20I.
65 – Rachael Haynes’s 65 was her maiden fifty in the T20I format. She never scored more than 25 in her previous 31 T20I games. Her 65 is also the highest individual score for Australia Women while batting a No.5 and lower position. Lisa Sthalekar scored 52 while batting at No.5 against New Zealand in the 2012 Sydney T20I.
68* – Natalie Sciver’s unbeaten 68 is the 2nd highest individual score for England Women in T20I cricket while batting at No.4 and a lower position. Lydia Greenway scored an unbeaten 80 against Australia in 2013 while batting at No.5. This was the maiden fifty in the T20I format for Sciver as her highest score in previous 40 matches was only 47.
