Virat Kohli and his Team India are currently in England and Wales for the 2019 World Cup. After playing their warm-up matches against New Zealand and Bangladesh, the Men in Blue are all set to play their first match of the main round against Faf du Plessis’ South Africa at the Rose Bowl in Southampton on June 5. India is one of the contenders to lift the title owing to their decent run over the last few years.
In a bid to reach out to his fans for gaining support for the mega event that has already gotten underway, Kohli is busy reaching out to his fans. Recently, he sent out a message for his supporters in a Videoconferencing platform- Google Duo. In a video, Virat can be seen, holding a cup. The caption of the clip read as “Thank you for the wishes and keep cheering for the team India on Duo.”
Google makes a blunder
Meanwhile, Google, the Search Engine giant, messed up while sending out the message to the intended users. In place of forwarding the clip to users in India, they sent it to users in other countries, namely the United States of America (USA), Canada, New Zealand and Australia. The Android users took to Redditt to report the system glitch. Subsequently, Google sent out a statement for the error.
“This was not an ad — it was a message that users in India were intended to receive as a thank you if they chose to participate in an upcoming Duo promotion,” the company was quoted as saying in a statement on Friday as per reports in Latest.
As far as India’s World Cup campaign is concerned, it didn’t start well as the Black Caps thumped them at the Kennington Oval. However. Kohli and Co rolled over Mashrafe Mortaza’s Tigers in the second warm-up match at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.
From a personal point of view, Virat had a bittersweet journey in the warmups with scores of 18 and 47. And in both instances, the fast bowlers nipped out his prized scalp. India’s fate in the 50-overs tournament will depend on hos Kohli steps up and deliver.
