Yuvraj Singh was named the Man of the Tournament was his amazing display with both the ball and bat; while Gary Kirsten was credited for bringing India the glory along with skipper MS Dhoni.

Guru Gary as he is known took over the reins of the Indian team after the disturbed period of Greg Chappell era and transformed the team into world beaters along with the leadership of MS Dhoni and his crowning glory was making Indian team the World Champions in 2011.

Dhoni (91 not out) and Gautam Gambhir (97) had played brilliant knocks to win the coveted trophy for the Men in Blue. Yuvraj Singh had been amazing the whole tournament, picking important wickets with a fifer against Ireland and scoring useful runs, including a century against West Indies.

Yuvraj shared a 45-second clip on his Twitter backing the Indian team under Virat Kohli to come good against the Proteas on June 5. “April 2, 2011 – a night I can never forget, and a night that one South African played a key part in making it possible,” said Yuvraj

India’s first win over South Africa in World Cup competition came in 2015 edition, after losing to them in 1992, 1999 and 2011 editions. Shikhar Dhawan scored an amazing hundred for the Indian team, leading them to set a target of 308 and then bowled the opposition out for 177 only.
