World T20

Playing XI-

West Indies:

Johnson Charles, Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels, Andre Fletcher, Denesh Ramdin (wk), Dwayne Bravo, Andre Russell, Darren Sammy (C), Carlos Brathwaite, Samuel Badree, Sulieman Benn

South Africa:

Quinton de Kock (wk), Hashim Amla, Faf du Plessis (C), AB de Villiers, David Miller, Rilee Rossouw, David Wiese, Chris Morris, Aaron Phangiso, Kagiso Rabada, Imran Tahir

South African captain Faf du Plessis said: “Happy days, we were going to bat first anyway. Nagpur wicket is slower and takes turn so I’m very happy that we’re batting first. These conditions are a lot different than the Wankhede. Batting first we have the extra batsman in and David Wiese is in for us and hopefully it can grip for him later [his cutters]. JP is a big loss but we have someone just as good coming in in Rilee Rossouw and hopefully he can show the world what he’s made of.”

West Indian skipper Darren Sammy said: “We are going to bowl first again today. I spoke to the groundsman and he said that it’s going to be different than the first game between New Zealand and India. I don’t know how it will play. We’ll look to restrict them and so far we’ve been chasing well. We have 15 match-winners and key was to take responsibility and some players have stepped up in the tournament so far. To win the cup, you need to take six steps. Today is the third step in that journey against SA.”

West Indies have won the toss and have opted to bowl first in their World T20 2016 match.

Shaun Pollock at the pitch report said, “They have changed the surface to try and make it play better. There is grass but I don’t think it will have much impact. The ball will keep slow and low and it will only deteriorate as the match goes on and will help spinners. The team which wins the toss will look to bat,”
