Pakistan and Bangladesh kickstart their Super 10 stage campaign of the World T20 today at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Pakistan will seek to get off to a positive start to the Super 10 stage. Also, this might also be an opportunity to avenge the loss they incurred during the recent Asia Cup T20. Their T20 form has been very unimpressive lately, having won only 3 out of the last 10 games. The leader Shahid Afridi himself is under the scanner for lack of convincing performances. The determined Afridi would surely want to get some runs today and shut up his critics.
Bangladesh are riding high at the moment. The Asia Cup finalists are upbeat and have been a team to reckon with in the sub-continental conditions. Mashrafe Mortaza had been their charismatic leader who has done both as a skipper and as player. Mustafizur Rahman isn’t their today but Taskin Ahmed and Al-Amin Hossain know how to pack a punch on bigger opposition. Left-arm seamer Abu Hider Rony gets another chance to show his talent
Playing XI:
Bangladesh: Soumya Sarkar, Tamim Iqbal, Sabbir Rahman, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim (Wk), Mahmudullah, Mohammad Mithun, Mashrafe Mortaza (C), Arafat Sunny, Taskin Ahmed, Al-Amin Hossain
Pakistan: Ahmed Shehzad, Sharjeel Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Umar Akmal, Sarfraz Ahmed (Wk), Shahid Afridi (C), Imad Wasim, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Irfan
Toss: Pakistan have won the toss and have opted to bat
Mashrafe Mortaza: “Would have wanted to bat as well. Anyway, we have to bowl well right now. Boys should play with confidence that they can go through from here. Still group is open if we win first game. From last match we have one change, Arafat Sunny comes in for Abu Hider.”
Shahid Afridi: “We’ll bat. Pitch looks good. Last game we played against SL in warmups, it remained same till 40th over. We have been struggling in the batting. But we are going with 6 genuine batsmen and 2 all-rounders, what else can we do. Hafeez did well and Shehzad is back as well.”
