Wriddhiman Saha takes to Instagram to give an injury update

After the intense battle in the limited-overs leg of the tour, both India and England will take the field in a five-match Test series, starting with the first Test match from August 1. The Indian selectors announced an 18-member squad yesterday for the first three Test matches, which included many surprising inclusions and exclusions.

The major absentee from the squad was the wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha, who was previously ruled out of the Afghanistan Test match due to a thumb injury, which he conceded during the IPL 2018. In his place, Dinesh Karthik has been named as the first choice wicket-keeper batsman in the upcoming Test series.

The selectors have also given a maiden call-up in the Test side to the 20-year old wicket-keeper batsman, Rishabh Pant, who has been included as the reserve keeper for the long Test match series. However, there are many serious concerns doing the rounds about the condition of the injury to Saha. The Bengal cricketer has been out now nursing his injury for a considerable time.

Saha gives an update on his injury

In his recent Instagram post, Saha’s team mentioned that the cricketer is currently physically unwell and will not be playing the entire upcoming five-match Test series against England. The post also noted that Saha is going through a bad phase of life in dealing with the recent injuries and other problems. The team thanked all the fans and the well-wishers for their blessings and support for the wicket-keeper batsman during his bad times.

Saha’s team suggested the people to not follow any rubbish claims questioning the future days in the game of the wicket-keeper batsman. The post mentioned that people should pray for Saha’s quick recovery from the injury rather than predicting his future. Saha’s injury is a big blow to the Indian side as he is probably one of the finest glovemen in Test match cricket currently and it remains to be seen how Karthik handles the challenging job behind the wickets in the upcoming series.
