Former Indian skipper Kapil Dev has lashed out at those who are comparing the Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli stating that it is completely unnecessary and a wrong notion. Kapil Dev has been a prominent part of Indian cricket history as well as Indian folklore especially after leading the Indians to victory in the 1983 Prudential World Cup.

Despite multiple fall outs with the Board of Control as well as being heavily involved in the rebel ICL, Kapil has seemingly mended his fences with the board and has also made it to their commentary team.

In a recent interview in Kolkata, Kapil was seen questioning as to why Kohli and Tendulkar must be compared. He also said that this sort of thing must be done between the selectors and not the experts.

“Why do you need to compare the two? Sachin is a legend. Kohli is still playing at an early stage. I believe at present it is wrong to compare the two,” Kapil said in Kolkata.

“You have to let him and the selectors decide. The selectors will make the change if need be. So it should rest upon them,” he said.

The former Indian skipper also said that the Indian performance in the World T20 was exemplary despite the fact that they were outplayed by the West Indies in the semifinal at the Wankhede Stadium.

Kapil said: “It was fabulous. Very good. But on that given day, the opponents outplayed us. They were brilliant.”

“If the rival team plays better, you must respect that. Every time India lose, I feel bad. But at the end of the day, it is cricket.”

“Have you ever seen so many sixes being hit or such huge totals being chased down? So long as the cricketing world is there, I am for it,” he said.
