Team Pakistan has received a major boost ahead of the first Test against Australia. The historic day-night Test will be played at Brisbane commencing on December 15. This will be the third day-night Test for Australia and they would like to continue their winning run in pink ball Tests. For Pakistan, this will be their second ever day-night Test. The big boost for the visitors has come in the form of leg-spinner Yasir Shah.
As per the recent reports, Yasir is all set to take the field for the first Test. He was recuperating from a back injury and had subsequently missed the tour game against Cricket Australia XI. The injury scare was not a minor one and hence Pakistan had played safe by drafting in young Mohammad Asghar. Asghar, the 17-year old teenage sensation, will have to wait a little longer to make his Test debut now.
Asghar had shot to fame with his impressive show for Peshawar Zalmi in the inaugural edition of the Pakistan Super League. His most recent appearance was for the Khulna Titans in the Bangladesh Premier League. Now, with Yasir Shah back in the team, Pakistan will feel much more secured taking the field. Earlier, pacer Wahab Riaz had called Yasir as the ‘trump card’ for the Pakistan tour on the team.
The team management has officially announced the 12 players for the Brisbane Test. Further reports about the match suggest that Pakistan will go with their usual combination. They are expected to go in with 3 pace bowlers in the playing eleven. Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz and Rahat Ali are the ones likely to feature and Sohail Khan might miss out on the match. Both Pakistan and Australia are keen on registering a win.
