2015 has given us an exciting brand of cricket. A brand where you don’t necessarily implement the idea of sledging or playing mind games. Rather you thrive to bring out the best in you in a language that is perfectly understandable by the gentlemen’s game.
Brendon McCullum’s boys failed to win a Test series abroad and even failed to clinch the World Cup. But New Zealand has redefined the game in its own way. From Mitchell Johnson to Brad Haddin, everyone was affected deeply by their nice manners. They couldn’t stand the fact that Kiwi’s were playing the game in the right spirit and still managing to clip off those wins. From beating Australia in the group stage to thrashing Sri Lanka at home. From standing up to Australia at their backyard to playing out hot and spicy cricket in Manchester, the Black Caps have come a long way this year. Here is a review of New Zealand team’s performance in 2015.
1. Stumping Sri Lanka at home:
The ODI series was all Kiwi show, with Kane Williamson leading the runs table and the likes of McClenaghan, Boult and Adam Milne supporting the act in the bowling department. New Zeland went on to win the ODI series 4-2 and Williamson was adjudged the man of the series.
New Zealand got the better of Sri Lanka under familiar conditions. Sri Lanka never looked confident and struggled immensely against the Kiwi attack. Big names failed to put score to board and that resulted greatly in Sri Lanka going down. McCullum’s boys had the perfect start to a year that was packed with loads of action. They sealed the series 2-0 and went on to level the next Test series against England.
