Yet another case of illegal betting and gambling surfaced in the national capital as four men were nabbed red-handed while indulging in the act in South Delhi’s Neb Sarai area. A case of gambling is lodged against those men by the Delhi Police. It was only a few days back when Delhi Police raided a gamblers den in the Eastern part of Delhi, in Shahadara.
Since the police have a zero-tolerance policy towards gambling, six men were arrested for their involvement in betting. Further, two laptops and 22 mobile phones were recovered from them. Delhi Police also seized the LCD TVs placed in their den. As per the statements from a senior police official, they were tipped off beforehand in the morning of play between Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiant in the IPL playoffs Qualifier 1, while patrolling the area.

Accordingly, the Police raided their den and interrogated four men named Subhash, Sachin, Gurpreet, and Charanjeet. It is suspected that these men made up to 10-12 lakhs during the match.
“We received an input regarding betting during the IPL cricket match between Mumbai and Pune, following which we planned a raid and four persons were arrested from a house in Krishna Park,” said a senior official as per quotes from Hindustan Times.
“We have also seized 15 mobile phones, one laptop, one TV and some furniture from the men. A case under the Gambling Act has been registered against the men,” he further added.
However, the Police believe the accused are a part of larger niche and the investigating team is currently leaving no stones unturned to go in deep into the network.
“We suspect that they are a part of a bigger racket. So, we are questioning the men in this regard. We are certain that more such men must be operating in groups in other parts of the city,”
“We have sought help from technical experts who are working on the laptop and mobile phones to extract more information. They will be going through the data, including their call list, contacts in their mobile and laptop. We will also access their call detail records to ascertain who all they were in touch with and who all did they contact on that day. Investigations into the matter is on,” concluded the senior official.
