'You are a machine' - Dale Steyn gives a heartwarming response to Haris Rauf on Twitter

The legendary Dale Steyn’s Big Bash League debut season for the Melbourne Stars was quite a handful. It started with a last-minute injury prior to his maiden game in the marquee league, one that only led to him missing out on the game but it also paved way for the shenanigans of a new pace sensation Haris Rauf to take over.

With Steyn not being available for the first two games, Rauf was given an opportunity to shine by the Stars, and he did that with aplomb. The pace bowler, courtesy his skills and hostility proceeded to bamboozle the opposition batsmen, claiming seven wickets- including a five-wicket haul- in the first two games.

But, despite Rauf’s pulsating performances, he was dropped from the squad after Steyn returned to full fitness. Steyn’s opening over in the BBL was quite an eventful one with Jake Weatherald taking the attack to the champion fast bowler. Steyn, however, responded back by claiming his wicket in the same over. He finished his BBL stint with an eight-wicket win over the defending champions Melbourne Renegades where he notched up match-winning figures of 2/16.

With Steyn set to depart, Haris Rauf will now be spearheading the Stars’ bowling attack. The Pakistani fast bowler spent some quality time with Steyn before the latter’s departure and took to his Twitter account where he posted the pictures of them together with a heartfelt caption.

Rauf wrote, “It’s an absolute honour and great pleasure for me to spent some quality time both in and off the field with the world class pacer @DaleSteyn62. A brilliant soul with true spirit of sportsmanship. Learned alot from him and capitalized it in the ground. Huge Respect for Legend!”

Dale Steyn responds with a heart-warming message to Haris

Things didn’t end there though, as Dale Steyn, who hailed Haris as a ‘machine’ and replied with a heart-warming message, “You’re a machine Haris!!! Loved hanging with you bud, enjoy the G on Wednesday night, bowl fast and knock em over!”

Earlier Dale Steyn had revealed how the batsmen were scared to face Haris in the nets as he was bouncing out guys for fun, “I didn’t know much about Haris Rauf & watched him bowl in the nets before the first game & he scared everybody. He was bouncing guys & they had to go & say to him you’ve got to stop bowling now as we’ve got a game tomorrow & you can’t injure any of the guys”
