You Cannot Disrespect Dhoni, Says Suresh Raina: Finally, India earned a token of consolation by winning the third ODI of the 3-match series against Bangladesh by a comprehensive margin of 77 runs. After being defeated poorly in the first two ODIs, Indian team somehow managed to escape a whitewash by their victory in the final ODI. The Indian skipper of the shorter formats, MS Dhoni has been subjected to some levels of criticism due to some flaws in his captaincy.
Suresh Raina, perhaps one of the most spirited person in the team, backed his captain by saying that one cannot disrespect the skipper for just a single series loss.
Raina said, “You can’t disrespect Dhoni. One series loss won’t make him a bad captain. He is mentally very strong, plays with a positive mind and knows his game.”
Raina was of full praises for his captain, saying that Dhoni is indeed a good man, a good human being and a great captain.
In fact, Dhoni shouldered the responsibility for setting up decent totals on the board and thus promoted himself in the number 4 position in the batting line up. Dhoni managed to score 47 runs in the second ODI and struck a smashing innings of 69 runs in the third ODI to help India enforce a commanding total of over 300 runs on the board.
Raina, who scored a blistering 38 runs off 21 deliveries in the third ODI and took 3 wickets also said, “Dhoni’s knock has given the team confidence. He took the responsibility and set the tone for us.”
On being asked about the reports of rifts arising in the dressing room, Raina simply denied it and stated that the skipper is comfortable in the dressing room.
Raina mentioned, “Dhoni is very comfortable in the team. He is leading well…is very happy. He needs to be credited for the way he has handled the team over the last season.”
Suresh Raina also seemed to be pleased after his decent all-round performance for the team in the third ODI. He said, “I am ready for whatever role the team management gives me. Sanjay Bangar has really helped me to improve. It felt good to take some wickets and contribute in the win.”
