Rishabh Pant has emerged as one of the most important members of the Indian cricket team. And, the 24-year-old dashing wicketkeeper-batter has opened up on whether the responsibility of being a part of the senior leadership group has brought about any consistency to the way he plays.

Pant stated that he was made the vice-captain of the Indian side and sometimes this responsibility does bring consistency along with it. The left-hander also made it clear that giving his absolute best is the only thing that is under his control as a cricketer.

“Sometimes it does. They made me the vice-captain for a couple of matches. But giving my 200 percent as a player is the only thing under my control,” said Rishabh Pant in a chat with the Times of India.

As part of the leadership group, I have to help people around me: Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant also added that as a part of the leadership group of the Indian side, he will always help people around him. Adding that this help could be backing a bowler or helping the skipper set the field, Pant concluded by stating that he does not need a formal designation to help his teammates on the Indian side.

“As a part of the leadership group, I had to give my 200 percent every day and help people around me. It could be backing a bowler, helping Rohit bhai set a fielder in a particular position. You don’t need a designation to help your mates,” concluded Rishabh Pant.

Rishabh Pant will next be seen on the cricket field when he leads the Delhi Capitals (DC) side in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Delhi Capitals will play their opening match of the tournament on 27th March 2022 against five-time IPL winners Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Brabourne Stadium in the city of Mumbai. The Delhi Capitals are yet to win the IPL title and will be gunning for their maiden IPL trophy this year.
