Much to the surprise of every cricket enthusiast, fan, expert, and Pundit, the big giant from the Caribbean, Kieron Pollard was dropped from the playing XI of the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in their group stage clash against the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

The MI skipper Rohit Sharma at the toss mentioned that Pollard has been dropped and he also mentioned that the most successful franchise in the tournament is now looking at the ‘Future’. It must be noted that MI is having a horrible time in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The five-time champions are currently placed last in the points table with just two wins.

I gave full backing to their long-standing stalwart Pollard

The 35-year-old has been one of the oldest foreign players to play in the toughest franchise-based league. Over the years, the powerful hitter has won countless games for the Men in Blue and Gold, single-handedly. Talking about his numbers in the IPL, Kieron Pollard has played a total of 189 matches and has amassed 3412 runs at a decent average of 28.67. Pollard has stroked a total of 16 fifties in the tournament as well. With the ball, he has scalped a total of 69 wickets and has bowled some crucial overs.

However, the former West Indies captain has failed to deliver for MI consistently this season. He has not been able to score more than 25 runs this season and has picked only four wickets. The five-time champions are now looking at several options to replace the all-rounder in the future. As a result, Tim David and Dewald Brevis can be given consistent chances in the playing XI in the remaining few matches in place of Pollard.

Meanwhile, MI skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss against CSK and opted to have a field first. Even though MI have no chances to qualify for the playoffs, they will look to win their remaining matches in the tournament. Meanwhile, Twitter was also surprised to see Pollard not playing on his birthday as MI backed him every time he didn’t do well throughout his career.
