Veteran Pakistan batsman Younis Khan is likely to be banned for a couple of matches at least following his decision of walking out of the Pakistan Cup national One-Day tournament after a dispute with the match referee and umpires.

Younis Khan quit the domestic cricket tournament Pakistan Cricket Cup midway following a 100 percent match fee fine being imposed on him. Younis Khan played as the captain of Khan’s Giggly Boom Boom Bubble Gum Khyber Pakhtunwala side in the tournament. Younis played 2 matches before abandoning the series.

During the match, Younis had an altercation with the umpire and hence the match referee Aziz Ur Rehman summoned him for a disciplinary hearing. Younis Khan did not show up for the hearing and was fined 100 percent of his match fees. The fine didn’t go well with the veteran right-handed batsman. Younis thus decided to call it quits and left the tournament midway abandoning it.

Now the Pakistan Cricket Board has stated that strict action would be taken against Younis Khan, the leading run-getter for Pakistan in Tests. “The PCB Chairman, Shaharyar Khan has taken serious notice of the incidents involving Younis and has summoned a report from the match referee,” a source in the PCB told PTI.

“The Chairman is unhappy the most at the fact that Younis quit the tournament since he is also an advisor to the Chairman on cricket affairs like Misbah-ul-Haq,” the source said.

PCB  chief Shaharyar Khan has also cleared that no matter who the player is, breach of conduct will be dealt with. “Shaharyar Khan is unlikely to let the matter go as he feels that no matter who the player or how senior he might be, no one can be allowed to challenge the authority of the umpires, referee or board in such a blatant manner,” a PCB official said.
