West Indies and Delhi Capitals batter Rovman Powell has played some excellent knocks in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Talking about his recent performances, the right-handed batter has stroked 36, 33*, 35, and 67* in the last four games respectively. In a group stage match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Powell scored an excellent fifty and produced an unbeaten 122-run stand with Australian batter David Warner.

However, Powell did not have a good start to the tournament as he had scored only 31 runs in the five games before he came back to his form and stroked some excellent knocks. The right-handed batter has now revealed that he talks to his bats.

‘What are you doing?’ – Rovman Powell reveals his chat with his bat

During a candid conversation on The Grade Cricketer Podcast, Powell opened up about having a chat with his bat after a series of disappointing performances in IPL 2022.

“In the first three games of the IPL, I didn’t get many runs. (Moreover), I didn’t get runs with the bat that I score so many runs. I was in my room, I put them (the bat) back on the bed and I said, ‘you’re going to disappoint me in the IPL. What are you doing?’” said Powell.

“I said ok, I’m playing in the next game and I’m giving you one more chance. I get one ball against RCB (in the fifth game of the season – dismissed on 0), and when I went back to the room, I just put them (the bat) on the bed and I said, ‘I’m gonna give you a little break’. And I looked on the next 4-5 bats that I have and I said, ‘who’s going to put up their hands and give me some runs?’” the West Indian batter added.

Meanwhile his side, Delhi Capitals will be taking on the Chennai Super Kings at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai on May 08 (Sunday).
