Hard-hitting Indian batsman Yusuf Pathan recently was seen sporting his strong support to the cause of endangered animals. The all-rounder from Baroda took time from his busy schedule to visit the NGOs working for the conservation of the endangered Asian elephants in Agra recently. Yusuf Pathan showed his support for the cause and also urged others to help protect the endangered species of wildlife.
He visited the Wildlife SOS Elephant Conservation Center at Agra and later had a visit to the Agra Bear Rescue Facility as well. They have 21 elephants with them, in addition to some 200 bears left. The co-founder of the Wildlife SOS, Geeta Seshamani, was absolutely pleased to have Yusuf at the NGO. She noted that it is indeed a privilege to have the support of a big star cricketer like Yusuf Pathan at the NGO. Pathan was seen signing a few autographs and cricket bats for the staff at the center.
He also spent some quality time with the staff and management of the Wildlife SOS and spoke on the various issues related to the endangered species and the possible threats in the future. He quoted that there is a need to protect these species. The need to protect the Asian elephants is of paramount importance as there are very few of them remaining now. The senior Pathan commended the efforts of Wildlife SOS for doing a great job in saving these animals.
“There is a need to protect and conserve India’s wildlife. Species like elephants particularly need to be cared for as India is the last remaining stronghold of endangered Asian elephants. Wildlife SOS is doing a great job helping these elephants and bears and they have my complete support,” quoted Yusuf.
Pathan will next be seen playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the upcoming edition of the IPL.
