Yusuf Pathan is our Trump Card: Wasim Akram: Kolkata Knight Riders’ bowling consultantWasimAkram has said that misfiring All-Rounder Yusuf Pathan is still the team’s trump card in the Indian Premier League. The Baroda based batsman is yet to fire for the Knight Riders as he did for Rajasthan Royals in the first three editions.

Yusuf was sought by the Knight Riders in the 2011 auctions for USD 2.1 million and has played a crucial role in their title triumphs in 2012 and 2014. Akram also complemented him as one of the biggest hitters of the cricket ball in this format and it is very handy to have a player like Yusuf who can bat, bowl and field. Akram also backs the Baroda Blaster, as he was called by former Rajasthan Royals skipper Shane Warne to come to the party and get big runs soon.

Akram said Yusuf is only 32, he is still our trump card. He is still one of the biggest hitters in this format. He is enjoying his confidence. It is really handy to have a player like Yusuf Pathan. He can bowl, he can bat and he can field as well.

Akram was also impressed with the way Sunil Narine has bowled after remodelling his bowling action. He also expects Narine to get used to his bowling action soon. He said I am very impressed with Sunil Narine. Even with his remodelled action his bite is the same. Of course, it takes a little while to adjust to your new action. I think let him play another two or three matches and he will only get better. I don’t think the change has affected his effectiveness
