Yuvraj Singh has been one of the best players when it comes to ICC events. He raises his game to another level. He has been a match-winner for India for many years and is a favoured by captain Kohli as well. However, team India was handed in a score just before their warm-up game against the Kiwis.

The southpaw was down and out with a fever and did not train with the Indian team. It was an optional training day but each and every player turned up for training except Yuvraj and this raised some eyebrows. Team management then confirmed that the 35-year-old was ill and hence took the day off. It is understood that the fever is not much to worry about and Yuvraj will be okay in a day or two.

Consequences

Yuvraj’s illness will make him sit out the warm-up game against New Zealand. It doesn’t look like a huge deal but it can play a part. Yuvraj has played a lot of domestic cricket this season but getting used to foreign conditions is a different thing altogether. With his illness, there is a worry about the veteran batter not getting enough time to adapt to the conditions in England. It is pretty important to get used to the unsure England weather.

However, with the experience he has behind him, he might just be able to cope up with it. But team India would be hoping for a fit Yuvraj before the game against Pakistan on June 4th. That said, the BCCI and the selectors are not yet thinking of a replacement and rightly so. They will wait for another two days before considering the same.

India will play their first warm-up game against New Zealand on 28th of May and will look to adapt to the conditions as quickly as possible.

Rohit and Kedar to play the warm up the game.

Kedar Jadhav and Rohit Sharma were the late travellers to England. Kedar Jadhav travelled to London on Friday night as his visa was delayed by the British, BCCI toiled hard to get it done in time but to no avail. Rohit, on the other hand, had taken permission to attend a wedding and hence was the late one to arrive. Despite travelling late, both the players will feature in the warm-up game against New Zealand.
