Two legendary cricketers of the game Yuvraj Singh and Chris Gayle could soon be part of a team based in Melbourne and play community cricket during the summer. The recent developments were confirmed by Malin Pullenayegam, Mulgrave Cricket Club president, and he is sure to get the services of the dashing cricketers as the deal is almost finalized.

If everything goes as per plan, the duo will play for Mulgrave Cricket Club, a team that features in Melbourne’s Eastern Cricket Association (ECA). A lot of people apart from the ones residing in Australia were unaware of this competition until it got former Sri Lankan players Tillakaratne Dilshan and Upul Tharanga. Suddenly, it started to get much-needed recognition and more players showed interest in this competition.

Pullenayegam though is not yet satisfied by just bagging the Sri Lankan duo, as he is looking to bag top players from various countries to play the third-tier competition.

“We’ve secured Dilshan, we’ve secured Sanath, we’ve secured Tharanga. We are now working on finalizing agreements with a few other potential players. We are in negotiations, and with Chris (Gayle) and Yuvraj Singh, we are nearly 85 to 90 percent there. We need to finalize a few things but it looks really good,” Pullenayegam told cricket.com.au

Yuvraj Singh guiding Punjab players by grooming them to speak English

After calling it quits in 2019, Yuvraj was predominately in Punjab’s scheme of things for the 2019-20 season. Although the southpaw could not set the stage on fire, he had made a significant contribution by helping the youngsters in the team. His valuable feedback and advice were always a calming influence on the players. He is often seen giving batting tips to Punjab cricketers Shubman Gill, Prabhsimran Singh, and Abhishek Sharma.

Apart from that, he was also grooming Punjab youngsters on their English speaking skills. Considering the players are not comfortable speaking in English, Yuvraj along with Harbhajan Singh started to conduct English classes for the players to help them speak fluently in the language, which apparently is not their stronger suit.

The 39-year-old also spoke about how he is not yet comfortable taking up the role of coaching in near future.
