Yuvraj Singh and Hasan Ali congratulate Sania Mirza for winning Hobart International doubles title

Yuvraj congratulated via Twitter and was delighted by the comeback of Mirza made to tennis after a long gap.

Indian tennis star Sania Mirza, who returned to the court after more than two years first because of an injury and then pregnancy won her 42nd doubles title in the Hobart international cup. Sania Mirza who is a former world number 1 and six-time major winner, doubles and mix doubles won at Hobart while playing with Ukrainian Nadia Kichenok.

The pair defeated the very talented Chinese duo of Shuai Zhang and Shuai Peng who were seeded second in straight sets 6-4,6-4. After the victory, congratulatory messages poured in for the tennis ace, as she was congratulated by various people including former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, who himself was known for his various comebacks after setbacks in his life.

Yuvraj congratulated via Twitter and was delighted by the comeback of Mirza made to tennis after a long gap. The cricketer tweeted “ Congratulations @Mirzasania! What a comeback. I guess being a mommy makes you stronger. Proud of you my friend”. Mirza went on to reply to Yuvraj’s tweet and thanked him for his wishes. She tweeted “Thankyou dost, being a mommy makes you stronger in every possible way”.

 

Hasan Ali also extended wishes to Sania Mirza

Yuvraj wasn’t the only cricketer who congratulated Sania after she won the title, Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali too congratulated the tennis star. Replying to Sania’s post on her Twitter account, Hassan Ali commented and wrote “Congratulations Bhabi”.

Both Shoaib Malik and Hasan Ali have played a lot of cricket together, and that is why Hassan referred to Sania as ‘Bhabi’. The 33-year-old tennis champion replied back to the Pakistan fast bowler and wrote: “Thank you”.

Sania was in discomfort during the second set of the match and also took a medical time out when she strained her calf muscle. But even after her struggles, she managed to hold on and won the finals with her partner. After the Finals when asked about how she felt after winning a title after so long, Sania said “I’m happy to have won, Injuries are a part of an athlete’s life. I’m extremely happy to win this title, as it has come when I least expected it.”
