Yuzvendra Chahal reveals the funnier side of Sanju Samson, narrates hilarious incident from 2016 Australia tour

Veteran leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal narrated a funny story from the 2016 Australia tour while explaining his bond with Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson. Chahal has been at his very best in the ongoing IPL 2022 season with 24 wickets to his name already since arriving at the Rajasthan Royals camp this year.

The 31-year-old has bowled some excellent lines and lengths which has brought a lot of success for him as well as the franchise. Chahal also picked up his maiden hat-trick in the tournament this season and has proved to be the game-changer in the middle overs. He is certainly a strong contender to win the Purple Cap race from here on and Samson has been a big part of his resurgence.

Meanwhile, Chahal mentioned that Samson has always been made some good timing jokes and noted the hilarious incident in 2016 in Australia where Samson had tried an egg on the electric stove without taking off the plastic cover. He told about the fire alarm ringing after and explained how Samson had funnily realised his mistake. He added that they were fined for it as well and noted that it was an unforgettable incident.

“In 2016, we were in Australia, we were rooming together in an apartment. Sanju took a frying pan but forgot to take off the plastic cover. He put it on the electric stove and began to try an egg. The fire alarm went off and everyone was wondering what has happened. The fire brigade came and everyone was wondering how the alarm had gone off. Then we realise Sanju had burned the plastic cover of the frying pan,” Chahal told ESPNcricinfo in a video interview.

“We were all laughing, even though we felt bad that he had to pay a fine. Even he was laughing, saying how did this happen? So that’s a moment I remember with him,” he added.
