Zimbabwe failed to reproduce their stunning 2 run win in the first T20I of the three-match series after they lost the second game pretty badly by 10 wickets. It was a very forgettable day for the hosts as they could manage just 99 runs on the scoreboard after opting to bat first. Peter Moor (31 from 32 balls) was the only successful batsman for them today. The credit for Zimbabwe’s miserable total goes to the spectacular opening spells from Barinder Sran and Jasprit Bumrah. India, in reply, faced no difficulties and overhauled the target in just 13.1 overs with the help of Mandeep Singh’s (52 from 40 balls) maiden T20 half-century and KL Rahul’ patient 48 runs.

1.Chamu Chibhabha – 3.5/10:

Chibhabha, Zimbabwe’s top performer in the ODI series, had unfortunately missed out the first T20I. The decision was quite unfair given the form in which he is currently. After stunning the Indians in the first T20I, the Zimbabweans tried to pack more muscle into their line-up by adding the promising opening batsman cum seamer – Chibhabha into the squad. The all-rounder, however, could not live up to the expectations, and had a pretty unsatisfactory day, scoring just 10 with the bat.

2. Hamilton Masakadza – 3.5/10:

The misery continued for the burly opening batsman who yet again failed make any significant impact for his team. Masakadza, who had a decent start to his brief 25 run knock in the first T20I, looked shaky at the start playing five dot balls initially before opening his account. The former captain could survive long afterwards and was clean bowled by Barinder Sran in the 5th over after scoring just 10 runs off 12 runs.

3. Peter Moor – 7.5/10:

Peter Moor was the best Zimbabwean batsman today. He had a very forgettable time in the ODI series and was neglected for the first game. However, luck looked in his favour after he was brought in as the last-minute replacement for injured Richmond Mutumbami. He did not disappoint and struck a decent counter-attacking 32 ball 31 run knock, ending up as the top scorer for the hosts today.

4. Sikandar Raza – 2.5/10:

Sikandar Raza, one of the most experienced members of the team, was an utter flop today. The right-handed batsman could survive only two balls in the middle, managing just a single run to his name. Raza had a huge responsibility of taking the Zimbabwean inning forward after the loss of their openers. Unfortunately, he failed in doing that and went back to the dugout cheaply.

5. Tinotenda Mutombodzi – 1/10:

Tinotenda Mutombodzi’s stay at the crease was a blink and a miss affair today. He came after the fall of Raza and quickly went back to the dug-out. He was trapped leg-before by Barinder Sran off the very first delivery he faced.

6. Malcolm Waller – 4/10:

Malcolm Waller played a short but sturdy innings today. 31 year old, who made a quick 30 in the last game, hit a slow 20 ball 14 runs knock before departing in the 12th over off the bowling of Yuzvendra Chahal. His small 29 runs stand for the 5th wicket with Peter Moor was one of the reasons why Zimbabwe could manage at least 99 on the board.

7. Elton Chigumbura – 2.5/10:

Elton Chigumbura, the last match’s hero with the bat, could not replicate his heroics today. It was due to his whirlwind knock in the last game that enabled Zimbabwe register an upset victory but today was simply not his day. Jasprit Bumrah made sure that the hard-hitting all-rounder’s stay at the crease is short after he rattled his stumps to send him back to the dug-out cheaply for just 8 runs.

8. Graeme Cremer – 2.5/10:

All-rounder and skipper Graeme Cremer failed to contribute in both the departments today. The skipper had a good opportunity to add some valuable runs to the Zimbabwean total. However, all he could manage was 4 runs from 6 deliveries. He wasn’t satisfying in the second inning as well, giving away 23 runs in three overs

9. Neville Madziva – 3/10:

Neville Madaviza opened the bowling but got only 2 overs to bowl today. There was not much to defend but he still could have created some impact if he had managed to get a couple of early wickets. He finished the day with 0/19 in 2.1 overs.

10. Donald Tiripano – 4/10:

Although he did not pick any wickets today, Donal Tiripano was the pick of the bowler for Zimbabwe today. He opened the bowling for his team and returned with a miserly spell of 0/11 in 3 overs.

11. Taurai Muzarabani – 3/10:

Taurai Mazurabani also did not do anything worthy with the ball today. He finished bit expensively with 0/17 in 2 overs after been brought in as the first change bowler.
