A familiar batting collapse from Zimbabwe meant they got bowled out for below 200 for their fifth successive ODI match against India eventually losing the second match and the series by five wickets at the Harare Sports Club in Harare. Experienced and veteran player Sean Williams struck a run-a-ball 42 while Ryan Burl remained not out on 39 off 47. The tail-enders failed to support Burl as the home side got dismissed for yet another lower total in 38.1 overs. Apart from Thakur, all the other five bowlers picked up a wicket each for the visitors. Chasing just 162, skipper Rahul came in to open the innings this time around along with Shikhar Dhawan but couldn’t contribute as he managed just a solitary run. In-form batters Shubman Gill and Dhawan amassed 33 apiece while Ishan Kishan got dismissed for just six. Deepak Hooda made 25 off 36 before getting out with India on the verge of a victory. India scripted their 11th consecutive ODI win at the venue to continue their streak. For his unbeaten match-winning knock and three catches, Sanju Samson grabbed the Player of the Match award. With this, the tourists also clinched the series 2-0 with the dead rubber slated to take place on August 22, 2022. Meanwhile, here are some of the important stats and numbers from the 2nd ODI between Zimbabwe and India: 100 – Kuldeep Yadav appeared in his 100th international match. 5 – Zimbabwe have now been bundled out for a total of below 200 for their fifth consecutive match against India in ODIs. Their totals read as 161, 189, 123, 126, and 168. 19.20 – KL Rahul has managed to score 96 runs at an average of just 19.20 in his last five ODI innings as an opener. 2 – Shardul Thakur registered his second-best figures of 3/38 in an away ODI. His best of 4/52 came against South Africa in Centurion in 2018. 3 – Shubman Gill has now scored the third-most ODI runs for India after eight innings. Shreyas Iyer (416) and Navjot Singh Sidhu (414) are in the top two spots. 14 – India recorded their 14th ODI victory against Zimbabwe on the bounce. 3511 – Sikandar Raza completed 3500 runs in one-day internationals. 94 – Takudzwanashe Kaitano has amassed just 94 runs in his six ODI innings so far at an average of 15.66 with the highest score of 42. 5 – Wessly Madhevere has now suffered five single-digit scores in his last six innings.
