Ziva is already imitating father MS Dhoni

When you are the daughter of India’s most celebrated cricket captain MS Dhoni, then the limelight is bound to be on you. But little Ziva, his three-year-old daughter, doesn’t look perturbed by the constant media glare. She is always busy in her own world and her bonding with her father is well known to everyone.

Though Dhoni is not a Test player any more, he is no less in the headlines even if not playing for the country at the moment. From attending a game at the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL)  to taking bath under a waterfall near Ranchi, his hometown, the 37-year-old is making full use of the break. He is set to play the Asia Cup in the UAE next month which will commence on September 15.

Currently, a picture of MS Dhoni and Ziva sitting in a restaurant, remaining glued to their respective I-Pads is going viral. From the Indian training jersey that the veteran is found to be wearing here, one could conclude that this picture has been taken during a limited-overs series that India played in England recently. The duo’s aloofness about the surroundings shows that even Dhoni’s little daughter has mastered the skill of handling things.

Criticism about his batting

The clamour over his automatic place in the team has grown louder these days thanks to his slower-than-usual batting. Dhoni’s ordinary strike rates in the final two ODIs against England last month came under intense criticism. He was even booed as India lost both the matches and surrendered the series which they were leading after the first encounter.

However, he’s been backed by the team management and the captain Virat Kohli every time.  Last week, Dhoni reciprocated by showering praise on his successor who has emerged as the best batsman in the world. “He (Kohli) is the best and has already reached a status, where he is close to (being) a legend. So I am very happy for him. And the way he has batted everywhere and in the last few years, he has just been brilliant,” he had said.
