In the 52nd match of the IPL 2024, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will be up against Gujarat Titans (GT). The match is set to take place at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on the 4th of May 2024 at 7:30 PM (IST). Both teams have had a similar journey in the league so far. While GT have 4 wins to their name in 10 matches, RCB have had just three successful games out of the 10 they've played. They are amongst the worst-placed teams in the league so far and have a difficult task cut out.

For both teams, it will be a must-win situation. For RCB, it has been so in the last three games. While they lost to KKR by a solitary run, the 3-time finalists have won both their matches since then, one of them being against GT themselves. The visiting side have lost 4 of their last 5 matches. For them, a win will not just be a confidence booster, but will also help their net run rate, which has collapsed badly after losing by huge margin during their previous defeats.

Both teams have some of the best players in the world in their line-up. However, as a team, they have not played well together. Some of their departments like bowling and finishing have not done well. Some exciting emerging talents from both teams have done well in the last few matches. From GT, R Sai Kishore, Sai Sudarshan, and Shahrukh Khan have done well. In Bengaluru, Swapnil Singh, Yash Dayal, and Rajat Patidar have come good. One can expect a good match between both sides.

Here is the strongest predicted playing XI of RCB for the 52nd match of the IPL 2024 against GT -

Openers - Virat Kohli and Faf Du Plessis (C)

Virat Kohli and Faf du Plesssis

Faf Du Plessis and Virat Kohli have been good so far for the Royal Challengers. While they have not fired as a pair, the experienced duo has fired individually. It's probably the reason behind their failure in the season so far. Make no mistake, both the batters will be the key to their chances in the game.

Faf Du Plessis can smash the bowlers from his end. The skipper can take the game away from the opposition in a matter of a few overs. However, against spin, he struggles a bit. Virat Kohli is currently topping the Orange Cap charts with 500 runs to his name in 10 innings. A desperate win would require their opening duo to fire from the word go, whether it is for batting first or chasing the target set by GT.

Middle Order: Rajat Patidar, Dinesh Karthik (WK), and Mahipal Lomror

In the middle order, RCB has a mix of the emerging and the experienced batters. Rajat Patidar has batted well in the last few matches. The right-handed batter was not in the best form coming into the tournament. Even in the first 4-to 5 games, Patidar did not have a great time, but has managed to find form, a bit late though. Following Patidar will be Dinesh Karthik, the designated finisher of RCB. The stumper-batter has been one of the best finishers in the season, and has been good with the glovework as well.

Mahipal Lomror is another middle-order for the Bengaluru-based franchise. The Southpaw played a fine match-defining cameo for the home side in one of the previous encounters. If required, he can be handy with the ball as well.

All-rounders: Will Jacks, Glenn Maxwell, and Cameron Green

Glenn Maxwell vs 78 off 49 against Kolkata Knight Riders, 2021

As a unit, RCB have one of the most formidable all-rounders in their squad. In fact, the firepower that their all-rounders possess can't be taken lightly by any opposition. The return of Glenn Maxwell after a short break bolsters their unit even further. The Australian cricketer is a proven match-winner and holds the key to unlock a victory for the Men in Red and Blue.

Another Aussie, Cameron Green hasn't had a good season so far, but it is to be considered that the all-rounder can turn the game on its head on his day. If he plays well against the Titans, he will gain a lot of confidence and will be motivated to win more games for his side.

Who could forget Will Jacks fiery knock in the previous encounter against the same team. The English all-rounder hit the ball all around the Narendra Modi Stadium to bring up a terrific century, which left Kohli and all the cricket fans in awe of his stroke making abilities. Jacks would again be hoping to see through the spin department of Gujarat and help his team score quick runs.

Bowlers - Karn Sharma, Yash Dayal, and Mohammed Siraj

Mohammad Siraj

On the bowling front, Karn Sharma has been the only dependable spinner for RCB. His leg-spinners and googlies are hard to pick, but it is to be kept in mind that GT's core batting unit consists of some incredible players of spin. As a result, Karn will have to keep his plans ready if he is to come good on Saturday.

With the new ball, they have the pair of Mohammed Siraj and Yash Dayal. The former has been out of rhythm, conceding the bulk of runs, especially during the powerplay. Given how he performed in 2023, it is difficult to believe his figures in 2024.

Meanwhile, Yash Dayal too has had a bit of inconsistency in the ongoing season. He was taken for plenty when KKR posted a huge total at the same venue, but Dayal will probably want to forget past and start afresh in the upcoming encounter. All in all, the pace attack of RCB looks a bit marred, but a little self-confidence to hit the right areas will see them shining through for their side.
