Resurgent Mumbai Indians (MI) are set to host defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, on Sunday, April 14, in match 29 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). MI and CSK are two of the most successful franchises in the competition. Both of them have won the coveted title on five occasions. They have had a fierce rivalry over the years and their face-off is termed by the cricket fraternity as the 'El Clasico'. Fans will be waiting with bated breath to see how the latest chapter in their epic rivalry unfolds on Sunday.

Mumbai started their IPL 2024 campaign under new captain Hardik Pandya with three consecutive defeats. However, they have bounced back strongly with wins against Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their last two games. Both victories came at the Wankhede Stadium and Mumbai will hope to extend the winning run when they return to the stadium for Sunday's high-octane clash.

Meanwhile, the Super Kings also had a captaincy change ahead of the season as Ruturaj Gaikwad took over the reins from the legendary MS Dhoni. The Men in Yellow won their first couple of matches before losing the next two. However, in their last game against Kolkata Knight Riders, Ruturaj and Co. returned to winning ways.

The veteran leg-spinner has plied his trade in four franchises so far in the IPL. He started with Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab) before moving to Kolkata Knight Riders. After a six-season stint in the City of Joy, Piyush Chawla shifted base to Chennai where he represented the Super Kings on seven occasions in IPL 2020. He bagged six wickets at 31.83 for the Chennai-based franchise. After spending just one season at CSK, Chawla was released. He was picked up by Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2021 auction but he only got one game.

In the IPL 2022 auction, the Aligarh-born remained unsold. However, Mumbai acquired his services ahead of IPL 2023 and he came back strongly in the cash-rich league, picking up 22 wickets in 16 matches at 22.50. He was only behind Mohammed Shami, Mohit Sharma, and Rashid Khan in the list of leading wicket-takers last season. Chawla didn't start the ongoing season of the IPL too well as he bagged just two wickets from four matches and conceded runs at an economy rate of 11.50. The 35-year-old was dropped in the last game as Shreyas Gopal got an opportunity.
