Bangladesh vs India, 3rd ODI Stats Preview: Players records and approaching milestones

Mehidy Hasan Miraz's heroics along with Mahmudullah's brilliance saw Bangladesh sealing the series for the second time against India. In the second ODI, the 148-run stand between Mahmudullah and Mehidy Hasan for seventh wicket helped Bangladesh win by five runs against India, despite gritty fifties from the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel and a magical cameo from injured Rohit Sharma.

Opting to bat first, Bangladesh were reduced to 69/6 inside 20 overs with Washington Sundar and Mohammed Siraj contributing to five out of six wickets. Then entered the first match's hero in the form of Mehidy Hasan who along with Mahmudullah, stitched a partnership of 148 runs for the seventh wicket ensuring a competitive total of 271/7. Mehidy registered his maiden ODI ton even as Bangladesh scored 68 runs in last five overs.

Chasing 272 to keep the series alive, and with Rohit being injured, India opened with the experienced duo of Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan. But things didn't go their way as the openers were sent back inside five overs. Sundar and Rahul also didn't last long as India found themselves in trouble at 65/4 inside 20 overs. Iyer and Axar led the recovery with a 107-run stand and made sure the visitors weere in the chase. 

But it was Mehidy Hasan who broke the partnership picking up Iyer for 82 after which, India were again reduced to 213/8 inside 45 overs. Rohit's cameo of 51 at the end with 3 fours and 5 maximums made the contest nail-biting, But in the end, it was Bangladesh who held their nerves to beat India by 5 runs and seal the series.
