The seventeenth edition of IPL will witness a new rule that a bowler can bowl a maximum of two bouncers in an over which was already implemented in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024 and was successful too. This will surely help all the bowlers get an edge back in a sport that is increasingly favouring batters.

The Captain Cool MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings had the best of IPL last season as they not only won the championship but also won eight games during the group stage. It was an entire team effort as every individual chipped in with runs and wickets in different situations.

The addition of Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell has given an extra balance to the already good-looking unit of Chennai Super Kings. Both the all-rounders can give their valuable contribution in all the departments thereby boosting the strength of the team. Chennai will miss the services of their key players Devon Conway and Matheesha Pathirana at least till the first half of IPL due to injuries. MS Dhoni will most likely be seen in yellow-jersey one last time this season with captaincy duties handed over to Gaikwad for the IPL 2024.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru, on the other hand, had an IPL to forget in 2023 as they finished sixth and failed to qualify for the playoffs after qualifying for three consecutive years. The addition of Cameron Green would see the balance in both departments and will also brighten their chances of winning more matches in the upcoming edition also he is in magnificent form in 2024 and performed brilliantly in IPL 2023.

Virat Kohli is making his return to cricket after a long break because of his personal commitments. Faf Du Plessis and Dinesh Karthik will also be playing after a long time. Moreover, Dinesh Karthik is playing his last IPL.
