MS Dhoni is one of the most successful captains in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The talisman of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has taken the Yellow Army to a record 10 IPL finals and helped them win on five occasions. Dhoni's captaincy has been a valuable complement to his batting and keeping prowess, contributing considerably to the team's success.

The 2024 IPL is rumoured to be his last dance as a player, but the 42-year-old makes everyone feel like he has still got it. Although he is no longer at the helm of CSK, his presence behind the stumps gives the team confidence. We have seen the way he guides Ruturaj Gaikwad in crunch moments in the ongoing season.

Moreover, he has been providing some blistering finishing for the team while coming down the order. Dhoni turned back the clock with his quick-fire knock against Delhi Capitals (DC), Mumbai Indians (MI) and LSG in the previous matches. So far, the legendary cricketer has racked up 87 runs at a staggering strike rate of 255.88 from five innings. As CSK gear up to face LSG for the second time this season, the focus will once again be on this man.

MS Dhoni’s overall record against LSG:

Total Matches Played  4
Total Innings 3
Runs Scored  56
Batting Average 56.00

MS Dhoni's memorable performance against Lucknow Super Giants

One need not turn the pages of history books to recall MS Dhoni's memorable performance against LSG. The keeper-batter played a stunning knock in the 2024 season in Lucknow that would make some youngsters jealous. He came to bat in the final delivery of the first innings’ 18th over when CSK were reeling at 141/6.

He hammered an unbeaten 28 runs off just nine balls, a knock that featured three fours and two sixes. His impactful cameo gave CSK a competitive score of 176/6 in 20 overs. But a 134-run partnership between LSG captain KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock ruined Dhoni's memorable innings as the home side won by eight wickets.

Key Battles for MS Dhoni against Lucknow Super Giants

Ravi Bishnoi - A strike rate of 110.29 against spin bowling suggests that Dhoni has struggled to find runs against turn in the IPL. In the last match, Bishnoi bowled his final over in the 18th over and delivered just one ball to Dhoni, in which he took a single.

Overall, the right-arm spinner has encountered the former CSK captain in 11 deliveries and conceded only 10 runs with one dismissal. KL Rahul is likely to keep Bishnoi's one over in the end and Dhoni will have to deal with the young spinner before unleashing his power-hitting against the LSG Pacers.

Yash Thakur – The right-arm pacer, who took the first fifer of the season, is the death bowler of LSG. Thakur had a forgettable outing in the last match against CSK as he conceded 45 runs in his four overs. 19 of those runs came in the final over of the innings and it was Dhoni who wreaked havoc with two fours and a maximum. Thakur is likely to confront Dhoni once again in the upcoming match, but can he stop MSD from firing?
