B-Love Kandy (BLK) will lock horns with Colombo Strikers (CS) in the 3rd match of the LPL 2023 at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on July 31. Colombo Strikers have already played a match in this tournament which they lost. On the other hand, B-Love Kandy are a newly formed team and will make their debut with this game.
Colombo Strikers had squared off against Jaffna Kings in their last encounter, where Colombo Strikers won the toss, and they elected to field. Kings started well and maintained a healthy run rate. Neither of their batters could stay on to score big runs, but they did provide a good base for the team. The middle order did the heavy lifting and scored the bulk of the runs. Towhid Hridoy led the attack with his fantastic fifty, and Kings posted a strong total of 173 runs on the board.
Matching their opponents, Strikers had a good start as well but then were pulled back as they lost two wickets in quick succession. Niroshan Dickwella stood tall from one end and scored a half-century. After some resistance from the middle order, he lost partners from the other end, so the team was bowled out for 152 and lost the match by 21 runs. Vijaykanth Viyaskanth was awarded Player of the Match for his great performance with the ball as well as on the field.
