India (IND) will take on South Africa (SA) in the second ODI of the three-match series on Tuesday (December 19) at St George's Park, Gqeberha. India won the first match of the series by eight wickets.
South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl in the last match. South Africa had a miserable start, and they were bundled out for just 116 runs. It was the third-lowest total of South Africa against India in ODIs. Only three batters managed to make a double-digit score for the Proteas, and Andile Phehlukwayo emerged as the highest scorer with 33 runs off 49 deliveries.
Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers and took five wickets for 37 runs in 10 overs. Arshdeep picked his first ODI wicket in this game. Avesh Khan bowled his best bowling figure in ODIs and took four wickets for 27 runs in eight overs. Kuldeep Yadav picked the remaining one wicket.
India lost their first wicket for just 23 runs in the form of Ruturaj Gaikwad, who made five runs off 10 deliveries. Sai Sudarshan and Shreyas Iyer added 88 runs for the second wicket, and they both scored a half-century each. Iyer was dismissed after scoring 52 runs off 45 deliveries in the 16th over. Sudarshan remained unbeaten on 55 runs off 43 deliveries in his debut match. Arshdeep won the Player of the Match award for his bowling performance.
