Preview

England will take on Pakistan in the 44th game of the ODI World Cup 2023 on Saturday, November 11, at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. England have won just two out of eight games and will be playing this game keeping in mind the place in Champions Trophy 2025. Pakistan have won and lost four games each and will need a miracle here to make it to the top four.

England defeated the Netherlands in their last outing. They faced some trouble as they lost six wickets before even reaching 200 runs. However, Ben Stokes was the hero of the game, making his first-ever ODI World Cup century and adding 129 runs for the seventh wicket. He helped England reach a total of 339 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 50 overs, with his knock of 108 runs from just 84 deliveries.

The Netherlands didn't have a strong start to their chase and lost four wickets before reaching 100 runs. They crossed the 100-run mark in the 26th over but lost the wicket of Bas de Leede. Scott Edwards and Teja Nidamanuru added 59 runs for the sixth wicket, but the other batters couldn't do much after Edwards got out. They were all out for 179 runs, losing the match by 160 runs. Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid were the standout bowlers for England in this game, as they both took three wickets.

Pakistan took on New Zealand in their last game. New Zealand scored an impressive 401 runs, with Rachin Ravindra notching up another century in the tournament. Kane Williamson, who made a splendid 95 runs off 79 deliveries in his comeback match, also contributed significantly. Pakistan faced an early setback when they came out to bat and lost the first wicket by the end of the second over. However, Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam played brilliantly, putting up a partnership of 194 runs for the second wicket before the game was interrupted by rain. In the end, Pakistan managed to win this game by 21 runs by the DLS method.
