Preview

Match 21 of T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier 2023 will be played between Scotland and Ireland at Grange Cricket Club in Edinburgh on Friday (July 28). Both teams have qualified for the T20 World Cup 2024. Scotland have won all five games, while Ireland have won four out of five, with one being washed out due to rain.

In their last match, Scotland squared off against Denmark, where they batted after winning the toss. They posted 159/7 as skipper Richie Berrington scored 60 runs off 32 balls. Nicolaj Damgard scalped three wickets, and his teammate Saif Ahmad picked up two. Scotland bowlers defended the target successfully as they restricted Denmark to 126/7 in 18 overs. Denmark's skipper Hamid Shah was the lone warrior as he scored 56 runs off 42 balls. Bradley Currie scalped three wickets, and Safyaan Sharif picked up two. As a result, Scotland won the game by 33 runs.

Ireland's last match against Germany was abandoned. They played against Jersey in their second last game, where they opted to bowl. The decision aged well as they restricted Jersey to 78/9 as Barry McCarthy scalped three wickets, and his teammates Joshua Little and Benjamin White picked up two wickets each. Ireland chased down the target in 10.2 overs as skipper Paul Stirling scored 35*(26) and led them towards a nine-wicket victory.
