Ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024, there has been a major shift in the Pakistan leadership as former captain Babar Azam has been re-appointed as the white ball skipper after quitting his position after the ODI World Cup 2023. Babar has replaced fast bowler Shaheen Afridi as the T20I skipper of the side after the latter led Pakistan in just one series against New Zealand which they lost by 1-4.

According to reports the sudden change in the leadership hasn’t gone down well with Shaheen who was furious with the Pakistan team management for the treatment meted out to him. Some reports also claimed that the board had to take an emergency meeting with the fast bowler to hear his grievances. After the entire fiasco, the 23-year-old has finally broken his silence as he put a cryptic story on his Instagram handle. Afridi posted a reel (short video) showing a lion walking and some words being said in the background.

“Never ever put me in a position where I have to show you how cruel and ruthless I can be. Don't test my patience. Because I might be the kindest and sweetest person you've ever met, but once I reach my limit, you'll see me do the things that no one thought I was capable of doing,” said the person in the video.

Lahore Qalandars finished last in PSL 2024 under Afridi's leadership

Recently, Afridi also didn’t have a memorable outing as a skipper for Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League 2024 (PSL 2024) as the team finished at the bottom of the points table with just one win from ten games. As far as bowling is concerned, the left-arm seamer finished as the fifth-highest wicket-taker of the season with 14 scalps to his name from nine innings at an average of 22.14 and an economy of 8.61.
