It was an exceptional all-round display by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their 2nd match of the tournament against the Gujarat Lions as the hosts romped home by 9 wickets to win their 2nd successive match of the tournament. It was a great start by the Gujarat Lions courtesy Jason Roy but couldn’t continue as they started losing wickets at regular intervals.

Teenage leg-spinner Rashid Khan was the pick of the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers as he consistently bamboozled them with his googlies. There was hardly any batsmen who were picking his stalk delivery as the youngster dismissed Brendon McCullum, Aaron Finch and Suresh Raina to finish with exceptional match figures of 3/19 in 4 overs.

Dinesh Karthik and Dwayne Smith stitched a useful partnership towards the later part of the innings but it wasn’t enough to push their score beyond the 150 mark. Smith struck a lusty blow to go with his 4 fours and was eventually dismissed after making a 27 ball 37 while Dinesh Karthik was pretty sedating in his approach scoring a mere 30 of as many as 32 deliveries.

It wasn’t going to test the Sunrisers Hyderabad camp with such a paltry score on the board. Openers David Warner and Shikhar began with a hat-trick of sixes before Dhawan gave away his wicket to Praveen Kumar. There was no looking back for Hyderabad from there on as the duo of Warner and Moises Henriques plundered some big blows to help Hyderabad chase the total down with 27 balls to spare.

Warner looked in ominous touch and blasted the Gujarat bowlers mercilessly all around Hyderabad. His 45 balls 76 included 6 fours and 4 sixes and would have completed another IPL century if the target was a bit more. Henriques was the perfect foil for Warner up the order and finished with a 39 ball 52 including 6 fours.

Twitterati was pretty active throughout the match and there were certain tweets which described the proceedings in the best possible way. Here are some of the best tweets from the first match of Super Sunday.
