IPL 2024: Royal Challengers Bengaluru strongest predicted playing XI against Lucknow Super Giants

Mumbai Indians (MI) will take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 67th match of the IPL 2024 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on May 17. This will be a crucial match for LSG as they have to win it by a huge margin to have any chance of qualifying for the playoffs. Mumbai Indians are already out of the tournament and would be hoping to end the tournament on a good note in front of the home crowd.

LSG made things difficult for themselves in the last two matxhes by losing to Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals, respectively. Therefore, match against Mumbai Indians will test their intensity. LSG must win by a huge margin and hope SRH to lose both their matches by a huge margin. Hence, all the players of LSG must come out all guns blazing against the five-time champions.

Meanwhile, the home side will be under no pressure as they are knocked out and have nothing to lose. In their last match, MI lost to KKR in a rain-affected match. Both the teams have some of the best players in the world in their lineup as LSG boast the likes of KL Rahul, Quinton De Kock, Nicholas Pooran, Marcus Stoinis while MI have Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, amongst others.

Here is the strongest predicted playing XI of MI for the 67th match of the IPL 2024 against LSG -

Openers - Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan (WK)

Mumbai Indians have the aggressive duo of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan at the top. The left-right combination did well in the first half but has failed since then. It has been one of the main reasons for their current situation in the league. The duo would be hoping to make an impact at the top and give a good start to the five-time champions. The home conditions might help them to end the tournament on a high.

Ishan Kishan will be keeping the wickets for MI. At the start of the innings, he can take on the bowlers by making good use of the field restrictions. At the other end, MI has Rohit, who is getting ready for the T20 World Cup 2024. The experienced batter made a statement by striking high in the powerplay overs in the first half of the tournament, but has lost form since then. He would aim to get some runs before he turns out to lead India in the mega event.

Middle Order - Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Nehal Wadhera, and Tim David

In the middle order, MI have some of the most aggressive batters in the world. At number 3, the home side has a world-class batter like Suryakumar Yadav, who has returned to his best form in the last few matches. He would be hoping to make the most of the form ahead of the World Cup. At number 4 comes the reliable and aggressive Tilak Varma. He has been one of the most underrated batters this season. Tilak can also bowl an over or two if needed.

Nehal Wadhera did well in the game against Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants away from home. The southpaw can bat anywhere from number 3 to number 7 and will continue in the main squad. He will be followed by Tim David, the designated finisher of MI. The aggressive batter has not been at his best in the season and would be hoping to return to form ahead of the World Cup.

All-Rounder - Hardik Pandya and Naman Dhir (Impact substitute)

Hardik Pandya is one of the best all-rounders in the world, especially in T20 cricket. The star all-rounder has returned to form in the last few matches, especially with the ball. However, Hardik has not been at his best with the bat and his captaincy has also been poor. Pandya can bowl in different phases as a bowler. Even as a batter, he can bat anywhere from number 4 to number 7. Therefore, his form will be critical for India in the upcoming World Cup.

Naman Dhir has had a mixed bag of performances this season. In some of the games early on, he played some fine cameos. But he fell off the radar due to loss of form. In the last match against KKR, the southpaw tried his best to win for MI but in vain. If required, he can also be handy as a bowler.

Bowlers - Piyush Chawla, Jasprit Bumrah, Anshul Kamboj, and Nuwan Thushara

Piyush Chawla is likely to be the sole spinner in the lineup. The experienced bowler can take wickets from his end. Chawla has bowled well in the last few games when other bowlers except Jasprit Bumrah went for runs. The latter would be the most important resource for MI. He can bowl an over in the end powerplay phase and return for the death overs. If required he can deliver an over in the middle overs to break partnerships.

Meanwhile, Nuwan Thushara has been one of the most exciting bowlers to watch out for this season. The Sri Lankan did not have a great game against Delgi Capitals and would be hoping to change his form against LSG, especially in the absence of Gerald Coetzee. Anshul Kamboj was impressive in his spells in the last few games, Despite going for runs, he showed the ability to pick wickets in different phases. The duo would want to support MI's most lethal weapon in the form of Jasprit Bumrah.
