Why Mitchell Santner and Donovan Ferreira are not playing IPL 2024 Match 61 between CSK vs RR?

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are taking on  Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Match 61 of the Indian Premier League 2024 at the MA. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on May 12, Sunday. RR won the toss and opted to bat first. Rajasthan made a slight change to their playing XI by bringing back Dhruv Jurel. They did so by resting South African all-rounder Donovan Ferreira. 

On the other hand, CSK too entered the fray with a major change from the last game. They benched experienced New Zealand all-rounder Mitchell Santner. As a result, they went with the Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana to add more depth to their spin department. 

“Need to stick to what has worked for us. Need to do our basic processes, just taking care of the controllables. Need to perform as a batsman, results have to go your way to feel happy. Jurel is back,” said Sanju Samson at the toss.

“You need to be in a good head space and deliver what's expected. We have the right balance, Rachin and I will open, and Mitchell will bat at number 3. Theekshana comes in for Santner. Need to believe and back yourself. We want to win every game possible, you got to have the right mindset,” said Ruturaj Gaikwad at the toss.
